Once again the Australian Cloud and Date Centre summit hosted by IT News and SE Corp on the Gold Coast proved why it is one of the leading events of its kind in the Asia Pacific region. TRA co-founder and research director, Trevor Clarke, chaired the event over three days. We also wrote up the event report based on a survey of 130 attendees. Some of the main findings include:
- The top challenges in 2016 are cloud, M&A activity, budgets, managing growth, and data centre consolidation
- 28% expect to consolidate facilities while 17% expect to either build, lease, or expand.
- The top projects are IaaS/PaaS, data centre optimisation, Office 365, Security, and cloud storage and backup.
Some of the main conversations that pervaded the event included managing a hybrid cloud environment, edge computing and whether it is going to make its mark, ways to be innovative and ensuring you know what your own organisation's DNA is, DevOps, and containerisation.
